Strawberries, California

Normal production average is 25 trays per acre. During this same period from a 15 acre parcel that received the MatrixTec™System water, production was 266 trays per acre, with size and quality to match - 10 times the average yield! Various brokers commented that these berries were the best in the state. Further, the usual shelf life is 4 hours. They reported a shelf life of 4 days, and they no longer sell strawberries day old at half price.

About Shelf-life: Many food producers attempt to increase shelf life artificially; with such tricks as radiation, genetic modification and/or artificial additives/preservatives. MatrixTec™ water systems extend produce life naturally. We believe that the system creates a tighter or closer cellular structure at the surface of the fruits and vegetables resulting in a firmer skin surface and natural resistance to mold, pests and disease. We also believe this feature helps to retain water and thus contribute to extended shelf life.

Better quality using salt water

King Faisal University Experiment Growing Cucumbers with MatrixTec™ Salt Water. The cucumbers growing from 3,000 ppm water were as large as the control group with better quality but slightly lower yields. The vines that were getting 12,000 ppm water were about 6-8" tall with about 30% mortality rate but the ones that were surviving had blooms with small cucumbers forming. They said that these were good results because they had never had any cucumber survive the 6,000 ppm water, much less the 12,000 ppm water.

MatrixTec™ tomatoes can be picked (red) ripe and sent to a distant markets without damage. This producer's retail outlet now has minimal losses. We have seen 100 rows of stacked (MatrixTec™) tomatoes that had been there for 30 days in 90 degree temperatures and they had not started to rot. There was no pest damage. Tomatoes were considerable larger, plumper looking (very red in color) and sweeter. Yield went from 15lbs per vine to 25lbs per vine. They added another 10,000 vines for following season.

The MatrixTec™ cotton survived a drought of eleven and a half weeks, has very little hard lock, picked clean and yielded 118 more pounds to the acre than cotton growing side by side that we did not use the MatrixTec™ process on. Further, the levels of pesticide, fertilizer and harvesting chemicals used was between 1/2 and 1/3 of normal. These factors all resulted in a considerable increase in earnings for the farmer in a poor year (1995).

Alfalfa is now growing to 24"-30" in height prior to the 20 day cutting. It is 90% solid stem because the plant is able to get from the soil the nutrients it could not get before due to the salt. We had soil samples taken from the first three months and the soil salinity already dropped 30%. In California, MatrixTec™ farmers are getting five full harvests per year where before they got two.

A count of the flowers from each of the houses revealed a tremendous difference in yield. For example 56 to 6; 48 to 23; 46 to 24 (MatrixTec™:Control). Because of the increased size, only ten 25-count bunches could be packed into a box instead of fifteen. Feedback from brokers and wholesalers on the quality of the roses confirmed their superior vigor. These flowers commanded a premium.

Stem diameter was increased and foliage duration after cutting went from 12 days to 18 days. The plants present an optimal state of development and the flowers that were initially intended for local market sale, are being exported to the United States, Brazil and Russia. The farm has reduced the use of fertilizers by 30%.

The carnation production increased by between 30 - 35% and as a result it was necessary to increase the classification rooms, employees and subsequent working hours. The flowers were watered two times a week and fewer fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides had to be used. A decrease in plague incidences was observed, as well as, reduction in plant illnesses such as Cladosporium.
